Tuesday, January 19, 2016: A Beautiful Song

This morning, I recorded a video devo, but my heart wasn't in it. I couldn't feel God's presence this morning. I was riddled with anxiety. In addition, the piece that holds my phone up in my car fell down because of the cold and it wouldn't stick on my windshield. Maybe a sign? But I halfheartedly recorded something quickly and went on my way.
My heart was anxious throughout the morning at work. Then, at lunch, I walked into the cafeteria to hear a song playing. I suddenly heard a familiar song and my heart jumped into my throat.

"Why are you striving these days
Why are you trying to earn grace
Why are you crying
Let me lift up your face
Just don't turn away
Why are you looking for love
Why are you still searching
As if I'm not enough
To where will you go child
Tell me where will you run
To where will you run
'Cause I'll be by your side wherever you fall
In the dead of night whenever you call
And please don't fight these hands that are holding you
My hands are holding you"
-"By Your Side" - Tenth Avenue North

Some call it coincidence, but I know this was Jesus. So today, instead of a halfhearted video, I wish to share with you a beautiful song that Jesus sang to me today -- and he's singing it to you, too <3
